Oh well after last months post, I guess there will be those who oppose for their own reasons, mostly woke and left leaning. Regional transport delivery and planning is one such excuse some will use, but it is important to realise that District councils have a seat at the table, and have their input. So no biggy there. many mayors mostly left leaning ,and woke or National/Labour Party hacks will posture as they do not want to be accountable to the districts rate payer, and would rather leave it to faceless politicians in Regional Govt. For faceless they are. My big concern again is that National being the major coalition partner is ,whilst agreeing to, promoting, introducing such far reaching legislation discussed in last month blog ,is leaving the door wide open for Labour ,Labour left coalition to undo it all. Or hope to get back in with a grter majority where by they can just find a excuse to derail the legislation. happened before. Remember. Since i wrote this week or so ago, more development’s have come to light, with the local papers reporting on meeting(s) between the 3 district councils, Rangitikei, Manawatu, and Horowhenua, PLUS Horizons. Pretty obvious now that there is going to be amalgamations of the 3 District Councils to form a Unitary Authority which i fully support. BUT Horizons part of it. NO. Never before have we had the need for Local and Democratic Decision making across the Natural and Physical. No room for that radical bunch of so and so,s, sitting around the table ensuring the outcomes they desire removed from the Rate payer, until the next election. There is a huge opportunity for $ savings to the Rate payer, in delivery of legislative functions and what could be termed Shared services , and the downsizing of top tire personal. But Horizons and its mates. NO. Oh well only time will tell.
Ha Ha. Bit different. Our Daughter and Grand kids fly in tomorrow. Have to declare on their travel documents. Aliens or not. Now the kids are born in Aussi. Does that make them Australian’s or are they still Kiwi,s . What next. Already have Bi sexual, Transvestite, Homo sexual, Homo this Homo that, Male Female, and now Aliens???. What next.
Speed Cameras. One down. Burnt out. What about all these methane trailers spread around our Kiwi farms. Or is it only on Pamu properties? I see MPI has gone one better and instead of a generator to run all the computor and smelling devices on these trailers. Now they have been converted to solar energy. Talking about solar energy. 2 productive irrigated farms nth of Foxton have or are being converted to solar panels to power consumers here and there. Had it pointed out to me that this is lunacy decision making. Paying farmers to convert to solar and supply incentives?. Why. Govt have millions of hec,s of land in the sun owned by the consumer with transmission lines running past that would do just as good a job. Seems to me it is another take on Govts stated goal . Land Use Change. Adding cost destroying wealth. Looked at your energy bill lately.
LUC class 4. Housing. can be perfectly flat, Most cases very fertile. May have a metal subsurface. LUC 5. similar same as above, slightly to moderate contour. Farm land , cropping. horticulture. LUC 6. Can be a perfectly flat paddock with a few rocks in it. 7 & 8. Lost to carbon farms. This is the outcome of the coalitions review of land use suitable for forestry. I have included 6 as lost. Govt has determined that LUC 6 is plantable but only 15% per yr. 6 years and its planted . Not long . What a joke. I see in this weeks farmers Weekly a chap supporting forestry as NZ,s unsung export hero. Abit subjective may i say. Is all the Chinese owned logs included in this assessment. How many yrs does it take to get the log to a exportable size. The lag time? & Multiplication effect, and accrued taxation from all down stream participants, and then compare with Agriculture and its rural communities. i have a pretty good idea. Thus i say the outcome achieved and the media promotion of is ALL Bxxx Sxxt. In Horizons region a lot of dairy cows are milked on LUC 6. My view is that the method of assessment of the LUC,s is biased in that is all about adding cost and destroying wealth. For example a heavy clay soil can have the lowest leaching limit, but be unsuited to intensive winter grazing. It gets too wet and bogs up, thus adding cost. But at the other extreme. Pumice and sand are very free draining fertile and well suited to intensive winter grazing and in many situations the down stream effect is minimal. Add irrigation to some areas and bingo could be very profitable to the economy. These soils have the highest leaching limits. No body is talking about this . The Feds and their como mates Bif and Bam are happy. Like i said in a previous post some time ago. They talk the talk with who ever is the Govt of the day, and end up in a good spot upon retirement.
Brings me to the RMA Reforms. As i understand. It is all Maori Maori Maori. Going to be a huge $ gravy train. Adding cost and destroying wealth. The feds and Biff and Bam are not saying much.
Oh well. Thats it for me this month. Work has got very slow, since May last year. The Highway has saved a couple of local fencers, but i understand from another that, Govt contracts is a big help, else where. And from the Farmlands Maze rep. Fencers are chucking the job in across the lower Nth Is. Not only fencers. Local trucky (livestock) saying things a bit quite. No body is spending $. And as long term readers of this blog. Would you be any different?
